Tertiary air ducts The recovery and recycling of the heat liberated from the cooling clinker is an important factor in economical and environment-friendly cement production. The right refractories can help achieve both these ends. In kiln systems employing grate coolers, tertiary air ducts return heated air to the preheater, helping to recover valuable energy.
The air extracted from the grate cooler is filled with clinker dust, which is highly abrasive. Propelled through the tertiary duct at 25-30 m/s, it wears down the lining - particularly at bends and dampers.
